
Membership Requirements

Candidates must embody the qualities of the Fraternity’s four cardinal principles:
MANHOOD
Exhibiting moral excellence, courage, bravery, and resolve; demonstrating character in all actions.
SCHOLARSHIP
Maintaining a strong attitude toward education and learning by meeting or exceeding the Fraternity’s minimum academic standards.
PERSEVERANCE
Displaying brotherhood, humility, cooperation, and determination. Candidates should be able to show examples such as obstacles overcome, awards received, or honors achieved.
UPLIFT
Using one’s talents to positively impact the community through leadership, activism, and service.
Eligibility:
Graduate Membership

Must hold a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.

Graduates from institutions with active Omega Psi Phi chapters must wait 48 months after graduation before applying. Legacy candidates (father or grandfather as a financial member) are exempt from this requirement.

Provide one letter of recommendation from a respected community member.

Submit a Medical Consent and Release Form completed by a licensed physician within the past 90 days.

Complete and submit an online membership application.

Must be sponsored by two MSP-Qualified members of the chapter via a Nomination Form.

Must demonstrate community participation, church involvement, and leadership experience.
Undergraduate Membership

Must be enrolled full-time at an accredited four-year college in good standing.

Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).

Have completed at least 36 semester credit hours (or 56 quarter hours).

Show verifiable school involvement, extracurricular activities, community service, and leadership.
Selection Process

All applicants are interviewed by the Membership Selection Team of the local chapter. Candidates will be notified of their results after interviews conclude.

The fraternity conducts a criminal background check and may require a polygraph examination.
